St Teresa’s School unite for Youth Day
St Teresa’s School learners showcased their talents through songs and dance, poetry and drama skits.
In a display of unity and reflection, St Teresa’s School commemorated Youth Day on June 14 with a series of events that brought together teachers, learners and the community.
The day began with a special Youth Day mass at Rosebank Catholic Church, attended by Grade 2 and 3 Rosies alongside the Senior Primary and High School girls.
Each learner demonstrated their commitment to community service by bringing a tin of non-perishable food to mass, which the sisters of Mercy will distribute to those in need. In a show of solidarity and school spirit, the dedicated teachers donned school uniforms with learners, fostering a sense of camaraderie and nostalgia.
Lianda May, the admissions and marketing liaison said, “Youth Day is a time to celebrate the energy, creativity, and potential of our Rosies and the indomitable spirit of South Africa’s youth. Today’s events have not only brought joy but also created historical awareness among our students and reinforced our Mercy values of compassion, excellence, collaboration, global responsibility, and spiritual growth as well as historical awareness among our students.”
Following the mass, the celebration continued with a rich programme of cultural and artistic performances. Learners showcased their talents through songs and dance, poetry and drama skits, and entertaining choir, marimba, and guitar performances.
These activities entertained and educated, as stories and historical narratives were shared to honour the significance of June 16.
